Professional Development

Preparing the Professoriate
This is a program offered by the graduate school for doctoral and postdoctoral students. I was selected as a fellow for the 2017-2018 school year. Through this program, we were paired with a faculty mentor and given the opportunity to teach an upper level mathematics course. I observed Dr. Molly Fenn's Linear Algebra course in Fall 2017 and I taught the same course in Spring 2018. Dr. Fenn and I met weekly to discuss the planning of the course. In addition to the teaching and mentoring component of the program, the PTP fellows met throughout the academic year to discuss our experiences and continue to grow professionally.

Teaching and Communication Certificate
I am working toward completion of this certificate offered by the graduate school. Thus far, I have accumulated 72 hours of the required 100 hours necessary. I have participated in the following workshops and seminars:
- How to Engage with Diverse Learning Styles (pictured presenting solids of revolution below)
- How to Process your Course Evaluations
- Structuring Content: Lesson, Course, and Curriculum Design (this was a semester-long seminar, which has served as the basis for my PTP professional development project in designing MA 405)
- Creating a Professional ePortfolio
- Graduate Student Course Development Seminar (coordinated by graduate students in the NCSU Mathematics Department)
